Tobias Wicky received his initial vocal training at the Knabenkantorei Basel (Boys’ Choir Basel). After reading for a Bachelor’s of Arts in Lucerne, he furthered his studies under Marcel Boone at the Academy of Music in Basel. The young baritone is engaged in performances in Switzerland and abroad (e.g. Festival d’Ambronay, Händelfestspiele Göttingen, Pavia Barocca, Monteverdi Festival Cremona, Festival de la Chaise Dieu). While his specialty is oratorios, Tobias Wicky’s broad repertoire encompasses works from the early baroque epoch to contemporary music.
He is part of singing ensembles since his childhood, currently being a member of several professional vocal ensembles such as the Bachstiftung St. Gallen, the Ensemble Orlando Fribourg, the Ghislieri Consort Pavia, and others.
In 2012, Tobias founded the professional ensemble Voces Suaves, which has been part of the international support program “Emerging European Ensembles Project” between 2014-2016.
Additionally, Tobias Wicky leads several choir ensembles in the region of Basel and assists Annedore Neufeld in the Münsterkantorei Basel. He teaches classical singing in Basel.
